Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8
If you were anything like my husband and I before we got married then you thought something like this…
We are so in love and he/she is so perfect! We will never argue or fight. We will never hurt each other. Ever. Etc etc.
Except when real life together started, we all decide to show our true sides. We forget our silent promises of perfect behavior.
God will test your marriage.
Have you noticed that as soon as you get married, trials come your way? There’s always something or another. Finances, tough pregnancy, learning other’s preferences, so on and so forth.
But lesson #2 is such:
Trials are meant to strengthen your relationship.
Yea, life isn’t going to perfect. Sorry. However, going through tough stuff together is meant to strengthen your love for each other. The love before you got married, that euphoric love will wither away. NOW, is where the real love is supposed to grow.
Satan will try to destroy your marriage.
God created marriage when He gave Eve to Adam. Satan didn’t like that. They were too happy living in the Garden of Eden, enjoying God’s gifts. That made the devil so jealous. So he decided to destroy their happiness. He succeeded. Adam and Eve were kicked out of garden because of their sin. And what makes you think Satan doesn’t want to destroy your happy marriage too?
And lesson #4 is this:
Selfishness will only make you disappointed.
When we are focused in the idea that “it’s all about me” then you will be one, unhappy spouse. What about giving? Don’t forget how you always wanted to do nice things for each other when you were dating and engaged. Don’t ever stop after the wedding either!
Last, but certainly not least, #5:
God is the only way you can have a happy relationship.
Since God is one who created marriage, He is the One who knows the rules to make it work. Read the Bible daily to keep feeding your soul and pray for wisdom every single day.
God bless you and your marriage!
