Love Triangle

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12

We probably have all heard of love triangles. They exist in soap operas, movies, books. However, a Christian marriage is nothing but a love triangle. One man, one woman, and God. God was the Creator of marriage.

He gave Eve to Adam because Adam just wasn’t complete without Eve, Genesis tells us. Once God is out of the picture, humans become distracted and focus on what they want, versus what God intended for marriage. The serpent, who was Satan, was clever and knew exactly how to distract Eve from God’s purposes by appealing to the human pride. Satan tells her, you don’t have everything you need because you can “be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5), where in reality, she was living in paradise here on earth and had everything she needed for a fulfilled life.

To this day, Satan uses the same tricks. He wants us to be unhappy with what we have, who God has given us, and His promises. We are being robbed of true happiness in God when we grumble, argue with each other, and don’t trust God in every aspect of life.

That is why God wants to be the foundation in every marriage since He designed it, and know exactly how it works. Picture a triangle. At the top, you have God. On the other two sides you have him on one side and her on the other side. The closer the two sides are to God, the closer they become to each other.

What are ways we can become closer to God, thus become closer to each other?

I’m a visual person so the triangle is included:
